Skincare Tips this Spring
Author : Allie Quinn
Spring is fast approaching and you may be starting to consider updating your skincare routine after the winter. It's no lie that winter tends to play havoc on our skin and that's without the added tonne of chocolate and junk we tend to indulge in over the festive season…(I may or may not be still indulging 😂). Our skincare tends to get neglected and this can leave you wondering where you need to start when it comes to beginning a new skincare routine.
I have listed below some key factors to keep in mind when thinking about your skincare routine, these include key ingredients that will give you the desired results you are looking for. This doesn't have to cost you a small fortune and can be tailored to suit your exact needs.
Preparation: A cleanser or Toner containing some active ingredients is perfect to rid any build up of dead skin. If you're nervous of active ingredients a gentle one to start with would be Lactic Acid. Say goodbye to dead skin and get the best out of your products.
(Pestle and mortars NMF is a personal favourite 😉)
Nourishment: Ceramides are a must in nourishing and repairing your skin's natural barrier. The excess heating at home and the cold elements outside etc can damage this barrier.
Ceramides can be found in your moisturiser and are key in bringing your skin's barrier back to where it should be.
Hydration: Lack of hydration can not only make your skin look dull but also make our lovely fine lines and wrinkles seem more than what they are (yikes 😲). Hyaluronic Acid is your best friend for hydration and is essential in bringing back up those moisture levels. Lucky for us this ingredient can now be found in most Serums and Moisturisers...yay!!
Complexion: No-one likes their skin to look dull and sometimes this can seem like a hard task to achieve in getting that glow back in your skin. Fear not, Vitamin C is perfect to brighten your complexion and even your skin tone making your skin look dewy, healthy and fresh...perfect for spring!
Protection: SPF SPF SPF!! If there is one thing you take from this blog please let it be the importance of wearing an SPF, not just on sunny days but everyday. It is so important to stop those UV rays from causing premature ageing, pigmentation and the dreaded C!
They are not your friend and you will be so glad of it in years to come.
Antioxidants are also vital, especially if you are someone who loves the outdoors 🏃♀️🚶♀️these will help to protect your lovely fresh skin cells from all the harsh elements we cannot see in the air outdoors.
Now is a perfect time to get into the habit of a good skincare routine and undo the effects of our ever-changing winter. Remember skincare isn't as scary as you think, look out for these ingredients in your skincare and see what works for you. All we need is some sunshine but I'm afraid I can't help you with that 😂
